MISSION & SCOPE:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist responsibilities are to post payments and refunds to the sub ledger and the bank, reconcile month end cash postings to sub ledger, and communicate with carriers and partners about shipping discrepancies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Track and report on outstanding payment issues:
-Update and analyze the Cash Posting Spreadsheets on a daily basis and update it with the most current information available from the various online tools.
-Accurately provide monthly, weekly, and daily reports detailing the AR department’s aging
Bring prompt attention to the AR Manager of any potential problems that arise.
2. Recover funds by researching and filing claims:
-Research and file claims for past due invoices using a variety of online and GERS tools.
-Report time sensitive shipping issues to the AR supervisor for recovery of payment.
-Respond to all credit card retrievals and charge backs within 5 business days with correct and accurate information.
3. Research and report on returns and other deductions:
-Accurately research and report on credits for returned inventory.
-Research & post instant rebate deductions.
4. Miscellaneous Responsibilities:
-Accurately enter a high volume of data on a daily basis.
-Maintain accurate AR aging.
-Develop new processes to increase the efficiency of work flow.
-May be cross-trained, or asked to cross-train others, in areas of responsibility between the two companies in order to support coverage for absences and provide succession for career development and enterprise growth.
-Other tasks as assigned.
This position has no budgetary or supervisory authority.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with employees in all departments and at all levels of the organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in business and/or accounting preferred
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications, primarily Excel & Outlook
• Experience in an office environment and/or related training is necessary to the successful performance of duties
• Understanding of basic accounting functions required
• Proven accurate data entry
• Proven ability to balance and prioritize multiple goals and tasks
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Read, speak, write, and understand the English language at a business level
• Work well in a team-oriented environment
