The Director of Learning & Development will have total responsibility for complete life-cycle training needs across multiple channels. This position combines visionary leadership with deep analysis and research to leverage emerging technologies and industry systems advancements, that will ensure lasting delivery of training and development to a diverse employee base. This individual must be able to able to lead a L&D team of professionals as well as demonstrate hands-on capabilities to engage in these activities where appropriate. The ideal candidate will work in heavy collaboration with executive leadership and to deliver programs that meet the needs of the customer



  • Lead the strategy, development and implementation of learning programs enterprise-wide.
  • Design programs and initiatives to enhance/leverage organizational capabilities in the areas of leadership development, product knowledge, new hire, and continuing education.
  • Responsible for Leadership training designed to support the succession planning needs of the organization.
  • Responsible for business-specific training programs such as Installation, sales training, product training and field operational training.
  • Responsible for New Hire Orientation programs designed to smoothly acclimate and retain quality individuals within the organization.
  • Maximize vendor and carrier partnerships in the areas of product knowledge and selling skills.
  • Develop measurement tools to ensure appropriate impact and effectiveness of training programs and materials. Assess the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities.
  • Establishes and refines training programs for designated client groups to meet performance gaps.
  • Conduct needs analysis and work with business partners to determine training needs and solutions.
  • May occasionally conduct instructor led training and train-the-trainer sessions and participate in the modification of such as necessary to meet the overall goals of the organization. Supports others in implementation to ensure consistency, accuracy and quality of training.
  • Implement various learning methods companywide. Design and deliver e-learning courses, workshops and other trainings.
  • Development and presentation of business plans to senior management regarding appropriate training and development strategies.
  • Ability to leverage online training as a for-profit component of the overall field training strategy, utilizing paid carrier content as a means to supplement the overall training budget as well as return the training value to the carrier in the form of increased activations.
  • Responsible for training content documents, e-learning web modules, webinars, off-site meetings, and classroom facilitation.
  • Delivery of effective training in sales, wireless products, store operations, and carrier activation sites.
  • Accountable for end-user experience and connecting our field employees to training content
  • Flexible prioritization and on-time delivery of multiple projects while managing daily business training outputs, producing high quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Partners regularly with executive department leadership to pull through project completion and ensure alignment of priority objectives, messaging, branding, and timing.
  • Establish strong relationships with carriers, host partners, and WA field leadership.
  • Position could require travel throughout the U.S. up to 25%.




  • 4-year college degree in business or related field required
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years experience in design and implementation of adult training curriculum
  • Minimum 10 years in presentation and facilitation of adult training curriculum
  • Minimum 5 years of previous leadership experience.
  • Training certifications preferred (CPLP)
  • Certification in various assessment tools preferred (360 instrument, DiSC profile, etc.)
  • Experience in the wireless or consumer electronics industry strongly preferred



  • Must have proven experience leading training and leadership development projects linked to business objectives.
  • Highly customer centric, with a honed ability to tailor learning solutions for our sales and operations teams, and solve problems for the business.
  • Deep understanding of a multi-generational workforce and the ability to create meaningful learning and development programs across a broad spectrum of skills, generations, and abilities.
  • Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Must be a lifelong learner with healthy curiosity and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with employees in all departments and at all levels of the organization.   
  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of learning and development offerings that support all levels and channels of the organization.
  • Ability to influence others and build relationships at all levels of organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong project management background, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Highly motivated, results-driven and able to work independently as well as with the team.
  • Possess a high level of integrity – must show good judgment at all times.
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets.
